Believe Rotary Shaft Seals Have High Requirements For Shaft Precision And Surface Roughness

2025-12-16

Mechanical seals have high requirements for shaft (or bushing) installation precision and surface roughness. Radial runout and axial movement of the shaft should be controlled within a small range; otherwise, it will affect the sealing surface fit, leading to seal failure or shortened lifespan.

Packing seals have relatively low requirements for shaft (or shaft sleeve) precision and surface roughness. Even with some shaft wear or eccentricity, the elastic deformation of the packing can still achieve a certain degree of sealing.

The rotating ring of the Believe rotary shaft seal is integrated with the shaft and can tolerate radial runout of 2-3 mm. The double-end cooling flow channel of the housing effectively controls the material-to-shaft precision to ±50 microns, primarily through soft silicone holding the shaft end in place. No surface roughness requirements are placed on the shaft.
